Portrait Elke Sommer
Theater

In 1970, Elke Sommer made her stage debut in the lead role of the musical Irma La Douce; opening night was in Flint, Michigan, followed by a tour through the entire United States.

Right from the very beginning, the critics praised the stage novice who would win only five years later for her work in Born Yesterday the Joseph Jefferson Award, one of the most prestigious American theater awards.

Ever since, Elke Sommer has been starring regularly in a wide variety of stage productions, not just in the United States but also in Canada, Great Britain, and first and foremost in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In some cases, she also acted as director and producer.
